Chocolate Bacon
Animated Short - Writer, Director, Animator, Producer
Chocolate Bacon is a portrait of a young woman’s experiences in the first year of grad school, presented through a series of conversations re-contextualized by abstracted characters.
The film is divided into 6 episodes showing slices of life from a 7 month time period and the voices are from real audio recordings. The vignettes are interspersed with pieces where the main character talks more specifically about her trials and tribulations in making the film.
Design & Animation
Each vignette is treated in a different style and technique including, stop motion, 2D digital animation, 2D traditional animation, video and rotoscopy.
Audio Recordings
Each vignette was recorded, edited, and animated over 1 - 2 weeks to make it feel as immediate and authentic as possible to the experiences recorded. This was an approach that went against the very nature of animation, which is overly premeditated and labor intensive.
