VC Film Fest is SoCal’s largest showcase celebrating Asian and Pacific Islander storytelling
This Academy Award®-qualifying festival is committed to empowering communities through authentic representation and media arts. We worked with the Visual Communications team to create festival artwork and branding for the 40th year of the festival, inspired by Steve Tatsukawa, VC's founding Executive Director.
The final artwork features a duotone portrait of Steve holding a camera surrounded by animated illustrations representing festival pillars and four decades of community impact. Using organic textures and a warm color palette, the design blends print media aesthetics with frame-by-frame animation to bridge past and present, while honoring Steve's legacy in visual storytelling and community activism.
